Introduction

In case a customer wants to explore all possible options before purchasing a product, it's imperative to show similar products or products that have similar specifications, price, seller, etc. It provides flexibility to the customer for choosing an alternative product.

You can customize and choose similar items that you want to display on the product description pages.

How To Show Similar Items?

First, you must ensure that you have enabled 'Similar Products' within your theme. Click here to know more.

  1. Choose any item from your product listing page.

  1. Upon selecting a product, you'll see its product description page as shown below.

  1. Scroll down to view the Similar Items section. This section can be modified through Platform Panel.

  1. Go to Product Configuration --> Similar.

  1. As you can see, a Category option is present. This means the PDP page will recommend you similar products from the category that you're browsing. For e.g. if your customers are browsing T-shirts, they'll be shown T-shirts from same or different brands.

  1. On the website, you can customize the title and subtitle of this section.

  1. In the title, you can use templating to pass on the value to your website (refer fig. 8)

  1. For example, {{name}} will pass on the category name, i.e. T-shirts as shown in fig. 6

  1. You can use one or more subtitles which will be randomly displayed below the title. The format is {{['subtitle1','subtitle2',...]|random}}. Your customers will be randomly shown one of the subtitles. If you do not want to use this random method, you can write the subtitle in plain text.

  1. Choose the minimum and the maximum number of similar products you want to show your customers through the PDP. For e.g. if minimum is 1 and maximum is 10, your customers will be shown at least 1 similar product or maximum up to 10 products.

  1. Types of similarities that you can show your customers:

    • Brand - Other items sold by the same brand.
    • Category - Products that belong to the same category for e.g. shoes. This is irrespective of brand.
    • Price - Other products in the same price range.
    • Specs - Products with more or less the same specifications as the searched product.
    • Seller - Products sold by the same seller.
    • Most Compared - Compares two or more products automatically, based on common user behaviour.

  1. Select Brand from the dropdown. Enter the title and subtitle to be shown for this section.

  1. You can change the sequence of the sections, simply enter the number you want them to appear in the Move to Position. In this example, 'other items from the same brand' will be shown prior to 'items from the same category'. Enter 1 in the Move to Position and click Save.

  1. Let's say, you have gone to the PDP of a T-shirt of your choice. You'll be shown the below 2 sections on the PDP.

It might take up to 1 hour to view the changes. Since these configurations aren't used regularly, the caching duration is active and new changes might take some time to reflect on your website.
